About me
Dear Sir or Madam,
I have recently graduated with a first class mathematics degree from the University of Essex and I am extremely passionate about getting into this industry. My degree involved a great deal of work with statistics not only the theory behind statistical models and concepts but also a lot of application of these concepts. Many of my statistics modules involved working a lot with big data, which included analysing the data to find trends/patterns and then to represent these findings in easy to read, graphical and tabular form. This required a lot of work with the statistical program R, in which I have a lot of experience with and enjoy working with.
Since graduating from University I have been enrolled at the Makers's Academy, which is an extremely intense computer-programming course. Here I have learnt and developed my coding skills in numerous languages, including javascript, sql and ruby, as well as working a lot with html, AngularJS and css. I joined the Makers Academy as I have always had an interest in coding, and dabbled in it specifically during my degree, where we did a lot of mathematical coding with Matlab and R, but I wanted to take it to the next level. I'm passionate about not just coding, but doing that the right way using TDD, OOP, MVC, etc. I learn quickly and I have been able to pick up new languages relatively easy.
Finally I have a thriving passion for games, I am, and have been, a very enthusiastic gamer from an early age, when my mum bought me my first GameBoy Colour with a copy of Pokemon Blue. Since then I have developed a love and passion for games and I am still a regular gamer today on numerous consoles ! I have also made my own game using javascript, which you can see on my github page and I am extremely keen to break into this industry
But don't think that I am applying just because I love playing games, as you can see from my CV and this letter I really feel that I have all of the necessary components to benefit you as an employee with both a mathematical and computational background. I cannot stress how avid I am for an opportunity such as this as it ties together all of my passions and skills.
