This is my homage re-design representation of two classic albums/covers both made into a special edition gatefold double album concept with a front & back or left or right, i.e. disk/vinyl 1 and disk/vinyl 2.
Along then came the third double album/cover design of a compilation of both together, as I could see a similarity in design and feel with both the original sleeve designs.

1. DOUBLE PLEASURES:
My take and homage to the classic Joy Division album/cover Unknown Pleasures, I have taken a more simplistic, graphic and modern approach of the original, with a more visual feel and representation of the wave/pulsar imagery that was used. The twist was I have created two wave form graphic patterns which is to simply show it’s a double edition with alternative extras/out-takes etc. I then made it into a 3D format so the graphic would give the LP/album feeling of the original but was able then to place it onto a white background to make it different then reversed it out and place the white graphic on the reverse side (disk/vinyl 2) onto a black background as the original was.
I also introduced the title onto the sleeve unlike the original purely because the title I chose coincided with it being a special double album edition with disk/vinyl 1 and disk/vinyl 2, the typeface, weight, tracking is the same as the typography used on the original inner sleeve etc, to give it that similar identity which remained small and not to intrusive.


2. DOUBLE AUTOBAHN:
I applied the same principal to the classic Kraftwerk album/cover Autobahn, after trying a few ideas it was hard to make a more simplistic graphic representation on this one so kept to a similar format with the perspective lines but doubled them up to show that this is a double edition version with extras etc, the difference also being from the original is that I drew a slight curved flyover/overpass as seen over some German Autobahns, and to give it different twist I then created a 3D version which you can only tell by the two triangle elements under the flyover which are the shadows from the inner pillars, which gives it more perspective and depth, I then placed a blue version of the design onto a white background to take it different further and then reversed it out on the opposite side (disk/vinyl 2) as the original was. The title I chose and used on this sleeve has the same size, weight and tracking as on the original, which also coincided with it being a special double album edition with disk/vinyl 1 and disk/vinyl 2.

3. UNKNOWN AUTOBAHN
(Compilation of Both LP's):
This is a combination of both the re-designed albums/LP as a compilation with out-takes and extras etc. It was to be the only album cover design at first then I saw the similarity and resemblance graphically between them when putting together the transition or the progression between the two, which visually I thought was quite strange and wanted the viewer to think that they recognise the design in some way, but were still unsure so to have to think about it a little. It has the two wave form/pulsar graphic the same as the Double Pleasures sleeve but split in half to form two lanes then I added the 3D perspective of the Double Autobahn design to finish. I have taken the final option I chose for both, which are the original album covers dominant background colours, the blue and black, and made each graphic as the opposite featured colour, which takes it visually away from the original enough, but also shows its a compiled double album. This title that I chose has a combination of words taken from both the original albums as it’s a compiled double album of them both, and the typeface, size and weight I used are the same as the Double Pleasure sleeve, but the tracking I chose is from the Double Autobahn Sleeve, and also the original, which then would be recognised and coincided also with it being a compiled special double album edition with disk/vinyl 1 and disk/vinyl 2.
