About me

Ania Freer is an Australian/Jamaican filmmaker and creative storyteller based in Kingston, Jamaica. As the founder of Goat Curry Gallery and the documentary filmmaker behind REAL TALK, her practice centres on celebrating everyday stories, craft and culture. As a curator, she works to give a positive platform to artisans who have historically been marginalised from mainstream knowledge.

Freer came to Jamaica for the first time in 2016 and quickly decided to stay. Inspired by the culture and eager to connect with her own Jamaican roots, she has spent the last four years recording oral histories and promoting the works of local craft artists on her social platforms.
