About me

I am a freelance artist with 25 years professional experience working in the creative industries, devising and fundraising specific projects usually in collaboration with and response to unique museum and institutional collections. I am a graduate of University of Wales Institute Cardiff with a BA and MA in Ceramics/sculpture with Distinction. My studio is currently based in the School of Medicine/Dental Institute King's College London Bridge.

My most widely exhibited and published work is created in response to the stories of WW1 servicemen who underwent pioneering facial reconstruction. Researching their personal and surgical stories and working directly with the families of the men I trace, I interpret using digital embroidery applique, ceramic, metalwork, pyrography and additional techniques dictated by the research,

My work has been exhibited internationally and is collected by institutions including Wellcome Collection, Museum of Arts and Design New York, Museum of Art, Design and Architecture Norway and the National Army Museum London.

Much of my work has been supported and funded by The Wellcome Trust, most recent being my Papaver Rhoeas series of disintegrating Biotissue Poppies created using lambs heart tissue which premiered simultaneously at 11 central London venues in 2015. My most recent work is currently on display at the National Maritime Museum London until mid 2019.

I am currently focussing my practice on ceramic work, specifically slip cast porcelain and 3D printed porcelain. I also welcome students to my London Bridge studio for short courses I run in studio and sculptural ceramics.
