ABOUT

To quote their website, Monotype pride themselves on being "The company behind type" whose "fonts and technologies bring the world's words to both page and screen." With a love for anything related to type, they opened an online store for fellow enthusiasts, boasting beautiful products for the home including books, magazines, stationery, prints, and gifts.

With the help of Ink Works, they designed a collection of bags for general sale—bags that included a new jazz inspired font created by Jim Ford. This font is called Masqualero—a nod to a single track from the Miles Davis Sorcerer album—and it became the print face of these particular canvas shoulder bags. Producing 1000 units in total, split over three different print specs and two difference canvas weights (12oz and 14oz), the final results were beautiful, bold, and completely inspired by the jazz scene. The 12oz bags were printed three bright colours to the outer, while the 14oz bags were printed one colour on one side, and two colours on the reverse. Each one had an internal pocket, and the overall bag size was big enough to house an LP... because with these bags it was all about the music that led to their production. Full delivery was made to Monotype in the USA.
