About me
Dear Sir/Madam,
I am an experienced marketing and communications officer who has worked across a range of industries and would bring a wealth of knowledge and ability to this role.
In my current role I am responsible for delivering a weekly newsletter which goes to all 1400 members of staff. This has been the main method of communication as the organisation goes through a major restructure and changes to office use and location. I have been responsible for a major overhaul of the newsletter, introducing a new look and style which has been well received by staff and managers across the council.
Alongside this internal function, I am heavily involved in the social media output, and I have been closely involved in the introduction of more multimedia including creating videos. This has seen a big increase in followers and engagement.
Prior to working in Oxford, I was Communications Officer for Raglan Housing, who have since merged with another housing association and renamed themselves Stonewater. Part of my role was to improve communications to all staff across the 6 sites they were based in, which included Bristol, Southampton and Bournemouth and involved travelling to these offices on a regular basis.
Previously, as communications officer for a national dyslexia charity, my responsibilities included delivering the marketing and advertising plans across the organisation. This would include promotion for all the charity's activities and events, conferences, exhibitions and campaigns. I would utilise all platforms available to me including email platforms, social media, printed communications and press contacts.
I was heavily involved in the production of the charity's membership magazine, writing and organising the copy, working with the designer on the layout and working with printer on costs, schedule and delivery. This magazine went out three times a year to around 5,000 members and organisations.
Over time, I became more involved in the design aspects and took over the design for all leaflets and flyers, using desktop software Adobe InDesign. I would also be responsible for the email marketing and websites, which included the charity's main site and shop.
I am an excellent communicator and am able to build relationships quickly. In previous roles I have worked closely with Lords, MPs, senior Civil Servants, leading academics and representatives of large multinationals as well as having to work with representatives of press organisations from around the world.
I have a great amount of experience dealing with customers and individuals and I have excellent IT skills and am experienced with Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite and social media tools including Hootsuite and Buffer.
Thank you for taking the time to consider my application.
Regards
Dominic Llewellyn-Jones
