About me

My name is James Pugh, and I would like to be considered for the role of Project Assistant. I have experience in TV Production, Live Entertainment and managing projects and staff.

For 2 years, I worked for a Live Entertainment company, where I progressed from a Project Assistant, to a Production Coordinator, working across the company and leading various video projects. Most notably, I produced, shot and edited 3 and 1/2 hours of content, that was shot over 7 days on board a working cruise ship. This was for a magazine style TV show for Thomson Cruises. The show was so successful that Thomson decided to role it out on 2 different cruise ships, for both their winter and summer seasons, meaning that more and more content needed to be shot. As well as this large project, I also created a number of videos for Thomson Social Media. We built up such a strong rapport with Thomson, that they also asked us to create internal training videos. Whilst leading these video projects, I also had day to day Production responsibilities for the Live stage shows we produce. I coordinated the props and staging for over 40 different stage shows during my time, and was also in charge of a large Props and Staging warehouse. Here, I ran a database of its contents and managed the space as a whole. It was also my responsibility to organise the shipping via freight of the relevant props and staging items to our cruises ships across the world. In the absence of an actual in office Production Manager, I liaised with the Creative Director and Production Managers onboard the ships to create schedules and to manage the Staging and Design teams with deadlines, budgeting and briefs. I loved the chance to be given extra responsibility and to get a taste of Production Management. I eventually was sent onto one of the cruise ships for a number of weeks to help set up the new line of shows and make sure everything got off to a smooth start.

I am very enthusiastic and motivated and I always strive to progress in any role I am in. Most recently, I traveled to the USA, to a summer camp I used to work at, to take a management position for the summer. Even though the role was not media orientated, I did not want to pass up the opportunity to gain experience in a role where I managed a group of 10 staff members. I am now looking for the next step in my career. After graduating with a BA (hons) Film Production degree, I worked for independent production companies and the BBC, where I gained important knowledge of the Production process. I was a Researcher for an Independent Production company, assisting on a project for BBC learning. I am very technically minded and am always keen to create my work to the highest possible standard.

CVs don't always portray the individual's personality, so please consider meeting me in person; I would love the opportunity to speak face to face (or on the phone) and hopefully get across that I am right for this role!

All the best,

James Pugh
