There have been countless cultures and societies, belief systems and religions throughout time. As effective as modern medicine is, we forget that all of these cultures had their own methods of healing and belief systems. This project was aimed at creating a small series of coffee books that celebrated the details of certain cultures beliefs about healing, using culturally relevant imagery and typography to convey it’s message.

The belief systems chosen were those of Shaman and Witch Doctors, and those of Traditional Chinese Medicine. I used evocative collage and texture techniques to create striking imagery for the Witch Doctor book, while I used my own hand written Chinese calligraphy and water based inks in the book about Traditional Chinese Medicine.
