ABOUT

Language is constantly developing and evolving to incorporate new words, new abbreviations and even words from other languages. Texting language and syntax has become so common it is now embedded in popular culture. Likewise, there is a whole world of words, names, abbreviations and more that have been born out of internet gaming that have crossed over into our everyday lexicon and even became memes.

As part of a self set brief I chose to explore and celebrate the language of online gaming, creating something that was visually appealing and informative for gamers and non-gamers alike. The concept behind the design was simple, to use the meaning of words to alter the words themselves and create interesting designs. I also developed my own unique “digital” style of graphics for the typography that draw inspiration from pixels, rgb, light bleeds and glitches, and the glow of a gamers pc in a dark room which many are too familiar with.

The focus of this project was on creating something typographically unique, informative, and generally fun that any gamer would want to have. Below is just a selection of spreads from the book created for this purpose, as well a striking poster to partner it!
