About me

Attached is my CV in relation to the Trainee Account Executive role. As a graduate, holding a 2:1 degree in Business & Sport Management, the proven appetite and relevant practise, I've built up a wealth of experience, through my own involvements and also in similar roles in the inception and maintenance of PR campaigns with the likes of advertising agency BBH and Bloom Design Agency. I hold a passion for both PR and marketing, therefore would relish a chance to prove myself and develop within the industry.

Within BBH's sport department, high organisational levels were key to staying on top of the workload. The role, again, requiring a highly proactive character, predominantly revolved around the RFU account. I assisted in devising strategic marketing and PR campaigns to firstly help increase the countries engagement in the sport of rugby, and secondly building the hype around the up and coming Rugby World Cup, the #carrythemhome being an example, tested throughout Twickenham in the Six Nations. My excellent communication skills were vital, in keeping other team members in the loop with any extra information.

As a fanatic for details, working with the accounts team of the design agency, Bloom, allowed me to express my creative side. I proofed and edited videos and narratives provided by the account managers, formatted project timelines with the use of excel. Being proactive, and my ability the quickly adapt to differing situations, I was a part of the various accounts, working with such clients as Lucozade and the rebranding of a selection their products, as well as a look behind new ones, Blossom Hill wine and their sun kissed range to the launching of Bell's Whiskey into the Russian market. Communication and interpersonal skills were essential to ensuring the client's needs for each account were relayed to the design team.

Working at the British Olympic Association, alongside the events and hospitality team, I gained a valuable insight into the various organisational aspects that led to GB's presence at the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympics. By managing travel logistics I aided the event flow of the Olympic ball. Showing strong involvement in the event planning stage, I identified intricate scheduling details alongside the Events and Hospitality Director. This work in events allowed me to form the inception, and successful execution of, a 200 mile Winchester to Paris Run for Cancer Research, raising in excess of £5,500. This consisted of intricate planning, effective advertising and prosperous marketing campaigns over a 4 month period.

In closing, I feel I have the flair and determination, as well as an outgoing attitude, required to allow myself to develop within your company, I would love the opportunity to meet with you and discuss the value I can bring. I appreciate your consideration and look forward to hearing from you.

Yours sincerely,

Rory Sherriff
