About me

Dear Sir/Madam,

I was thrilled when I saw the position of 'Junior Graphic Designer' being advertised on indeed. So I am writing to outline the skills and enthusiasm I have for this job and why I believe I am the perfect candidate.

I am a Media Studies graduate (2014) awarded a First Class BA Honours. I believe I received this award for my extremely hardworking attitude and a determination to work to the best of my ability. I have a passion for Media and Graphic Design. During my degree course I developed skills in a range of media programs including the Adobe Creative Suite. I work quickly and efficiently and was able to master these and other applications, such as Apple Motion and Final Cut Pro.

I completed a practical dissertation where I designed 10 film posters which depict the 20th century of film and art. The subject of each poster being the dominant film genre in the style of the leading art style of each decade. During the design process I became quickly aware of the importance of typography in achieving the final desired art style of each poster.

In a final year team practical I was in charge of the motion graphics and branding for a 30 minute 'live' broadcast (magazine format). Planning and preparation was important to ensure we completed all the content (interviews/credits) on time. I recognised the crucial elements of great team work: motivation, consistency, quality and each member having a clear understanding of their role.

As you will see from my enclosed CV and portfolio, I have used the skills gained during my degree since

graduating to provide design services for an array of small companies, following their individual and specialist briefs. I have developed a real attention to detail and resilience in order to fulfil client wishes within an agreed time frame.

I hope that my attached CV and portfolio demonstrates that I have the practical knowledge and potential to work for your organisation. I believe I can show to you a desire and motivation to work hard. I am a fast learner, if there is something I find challenging I do not give up, but persevere until I find an alternate solution and I am not afraid of asking for support. I am keen to learn more and keep my knowledge up to date, push myself and become a strong team member. I am inspired to be the best I can be and this post would be an amazing chance to show you that I can shine.
