Dear Sir/Madam

I would like the make an application for the role of Research and Development assistant for FDM Artwork. After looking over the job description I feel that I would be an excellent fit for this position.

Whilst at the University of Essex, I studied my undergraduate degree in Art History for which I obtained the class of 2.1. Whilst studying this degree I was able to attract marks of a first class level for my writing in my final year. This was due to my ability to think creatively about subjects such as Modernism and Postmodernism. My final essay for my Modernism module on the subject of Piet Mondrian was awarded a grade of a 78, one of the highest marks in the department history. I was informed by the lecturer that this was due to how I approached the subject utilizing the ability to connect pieces of work often seen as unrelated. Professor Peter Vergo argued that many arguments were ground-breaking in the approach to the work.

I have recently studied a postgraduate certificate in New Venture Creation. During this period I was developing a business project called ponderSpace, a new online social media site. This was something that was developed throughout my course that was highly appreciated by the MBA Director at the University of Essex and visiting business lecturers. The development of this business idea into a full business plan utilized both the ability to think about social media from a new perspective and to translate my vision using techniques learnt on my course. I am still running this business on a part-time basis.

I feel that my experience with both Art History and New Venture creation will offer you a balance in skillsets that will work incredibly well within the role. I describe myself as an outgoing creative worker, who can develop a vision into a strategy. I have been able to translate an idea for a business into a clear and decisive brand which has inspired my advisors and colleagues. I would enjoy the opportunity to use these skills for you and your clients.
