About me

My name is Benjamin Waller and I'm a Freelance Digital Designer, specialising in user interface design, user experience and branding.

Over the course of my career, I have accrued a wealth of valuable experience in both agency and non-agency environments, spanning a diverse range of industries including publishing, telecommunications, healthcare, the public sector and automotive to name just a few.

As a designer, I have a strong passion for problem solving. Whilst aesthetics are undoubtedly important, to my mind there is a greater purpose in being able to deliver a key message, or facilitate a simple yet rewarding experience for the end user.

In terms of deliverables, I routinely produce user interface designs in Adobe Illustrator and primarily for the responsive web. More recently, I have been bringing these to life as a high-fidelity prototypes either in Axure or Marvel. Prior to any on-screen design, I sketch all my concepts and wireframes by hand.

With regards to branding, I have a great deal of experience creating digital assets styled either to a specific brief or brand guidelines. One of my favourite pastimes is vector illustration, which is very much key to this as it allows me to produce anything up to and including infographics, iconography sets, banners, style guides and entire brand refreshes.

My approach to design is methodical and supported by a number of processes I've developed over the years. I believe strongly in groundwork, establishing expectations and collaboration throughout the creative process. Design is of course one cog in a much bigger machine, so pragmatism and efficiency also factor into my conscience when approaching and undertaking any project, big or small.

Lastly, I hold the belief that the working environment should be an enjoyable one. I pride myself on being polite and friendly, facets which I believe are essential to a healthy and functioning team ethic!
