About me

Dear Sir/Madam,

Please accept the following letter, as well as the attached CV as my application for this Content Executive position. As you'll see from my supporting documents, I'd be a great fit for the position.

On my CV you will notice that I have been heavily involved in a variety of web-based multimedia projects but I would like to draw particular attention to the editorial work I have been doing most recently at Corks, Forks and Travels, a travel brand I founded and launched last year.

Unlike your standard Wordpress or Tumblr theme, I designed the layout of my site from scratch using Adobe CS6 programs and WiX content management system. Since its launch, I have maintained my brand like a business, which means, first and foremost, having the self-management and initiative to regularly post content that is fresh, accurate and exciting, as well as constantly thinking of new and creative ways to develop unique material. It also means collaborating with external bloggers and staying firmly connected on Twitter, Instagram and Facebook in order to grow my following into the thousands and boost traffic. Additionally, I maintain a solid understanding of SEO practices and constantly monitor Google Analytics in order to reach larger audiences.

You will also see that I have been involved in a number of other online works, including an editorial role at Also In London and a video producer/web designer role under The Wisdom Collection. My experience in these roles, both independently and as a leader, has made me a strong team player who can juggle multiple projects, stay organised and meet firm deadlines.

Educationally, I come from a creative background that includes a masters degree in online journalism from the University of Westminster in London and a bachelors degree in visual arts from California State University, San Marcos. The tools I have gained through my extended education include the detailed knowledge of various Adobe programs, multiple Content Management Systems like Wordpress, Tumblr and Blogger and a range of equipment used to produce video, photography and audio.

Throughout all of my experience and education, my greatest creative attribute is the ability to understand the user experience and create an interface that people love to connect with. I'd like to bring that quality to this position.

I'd love to arrange a time to learn more about the role. Please do not hesitate to contact me by phone or email should you have any questions.

Kind regards,

Gavin Barnes
