About me

Dear Sir/ Madam,

My name is Darren O'Neill and I am writing to you about your career opportunity.

I am hard-working, enthusiastic, punctual and eager to learn. I enjoy working as part of a team and meeting and working with new people.

I am a 3d Environment and Lighting Artist currently working at Logicom full time. I am working as a junior 3d modeller for the company. I make asset packs for the program Virtual worlds. Apart from Modelling I am also involved in R&D, Cataloging, Lighting and Rendering. My time at Logicom has provided me with experience with Max Script and this skill is growing steadily.

I have experience working with Ikit Systems doing stop motion animations and creating backdrops in Photoshop.

I have professional experience using 3ds max, Photoshop and advanced knowledge working with Mudbox, The Unreal Engine 3 and Zbrush. I also have working knowledge of Unity and The Unreal Engine 4.

I finished studying at Teesside University this year. I was awarded with a First class honours degree in Computer Games Art.

My Final year project was a 3d environment based on the Game of Thrones series and took part in Teesside Universities Expo Tees for the highly commended students.

My time at university also has given me a lot of experience with team projects which have proved to be very helpful for when I started my job at Virtual Worlds. In my second year we had a module called the Journeyman Project. A team of students worked together to develop a game concept. We worked on a game concept called 'The Deep' (which you can see in my portfolio). I was the Lighting artist and an Environment Artist for the project. Through Journeyman I have developed a lot of key skills such as time management, team work and communication skills. I have developed these skills with working between team members and crossing over to other teams such as the level design team whom I worked closely with. In this project we used the Unreal game engine.

I completed working with a team to develop a game for Android Devices Called Flytopia. I was an Environment Artist for the team. We used Unity for this project. This group project has also given me a great deal of experience with hand painted textures, which I feel has become a strength, thanks to my traditional art background. In both projects I used 3ds max and Photoshop.

I would love the opportunity to work with this company and your team. As this has been my focus since I started playing games. If you have any questions do not hesitate to contact me.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Yours Faithfully,
