About me

Dear Sirs,

I would be absolutely delighted and humbled if you were to consider me for the post of Copywriter.

I am currently teaching English Language and Literature, and am looking for a change in the direction of my writing career.

While I do not have any direct experience in copywriting, I do have significant experience in writing creatively. I graduated with a 2:1 in English Literature and Creative Writing, and during my university career wrote for various mediums. A copy of the final dissertation is available for perusal on my LinkedIn profile. This was not only utilised through my degree but also my extensive extra curricular involvement. This ranged from writing proposal documents, contracts, and constitutions, given my prominent role of President of a Theatre Society, to working closely with the society's events team to develop promotional material to advertise upcoming productions and concerts. In addition to this, I worked as a proofreader with the University's student newspaper, The Courier, and was a runner up for the Wicked Young Writers Award during my first year. Prior to university, I also had a number of Theatre reviews published in Swansea's local magazine, The Community Times.

Throughout my teaching career at Nicholas Chamberlaine School I have demonstrated my proficiency in time management and adhering to deadlines in high-pressure situations, during which I have thrived. I regularly use all Microsoft Packages to produce both digital and print resources for classes of varying abilities and ages, and within these frequently must write exemplar creative passages and exam answers. During Departmental meetings and frequent INSET days, I have been responsible for taking the minutes of these, in addition to the committee meetings of my university society, also led by myself.

At present, in my spare time, I write a blog recreationally reviewing film, TV and theatre. The link to this is: thisisnotkansasanymore.wordpress

But why should you consider me

Creativity is something that I highly regard and respect. My past experience is all very well and good, but I am all about the future. To be able to be a part of an enthusiastic and innovative team of like-minded people would be the definitive start of that future.

The possibility of stepping out of my current role and gaining professional experience in this sector would be invaluable.

If considered, I will work exceptionally hard to convince your client that I belong in their agency.

Kindest regards,

Beth Garden
