About me

Hello,

I am extremely interested in throwing myself, enthusiasm and passion into a new job role, where each day comes with new and exciting challenges. I believe the skills I have learnt through my vast gallery and creative experience make me ideal for the job role , however I am also eager to learn more during the role each day.

I am currently the curator for The Old Baths (Cre8 Lifestyle Centre), and I am used to communicating and negotiating with Artists and exhibitors and their enquiries. I thrive off working in a fast - paced environment, and am extremely passionate about events in the Arts. In the digital age, I am constantly looking for innovative ways to promote and highlight creative events to wider audiences, both Artists and buyers, through my knowledge of social media. The modern British art scene is something of which drives me every day, with the prospect of meeting and discovering new Artists. As an Artist myself, in my curative practise I ensure I discuss with the exhibitors the passion behind their artwork and how they would like their work to displayed to give them the most beneficial exhibiting time

In this busy environment, organisation is key, in addition to punctuality to deadlines. This is to ensure that the event runs smoothly, allowing time any mishaps during the exhibition.

I have previously worked at many galleries and exhibitions, such as Late at Tate at Tate Britain, The Other Art Fair, Artcube, and Guerilla Zoo. Within these roles, my duties have included unpacking and repacking Artist's artwork to a professional standard, approaching and welcoming customers and Artist's to the event, general gallery/ exhibition maintenance and most importantly, representing the location and event to the highest standard, being knowledgeable, aware and well presented.

I assisted upcoming, East London, Artist Lauren Baker for over a year in her studio. During my time with Lauren, I aided her with her solo exhibition, Moniker art fair, Harrod's and Selfridge's window displays, Affordable Art Fair NYC, and Art Cube CA to name a few. During this time, I helped with the creation of artworks, administrative communication and liaising with galleries and partners, artwork packing, and managing the Artist's social media.

I have also assisted Yinka Shonibare with the creation of his artworks for the site - specific installation 'The British Library'. During this time, I worked alongside a team of Shonibare's assistants to bind over a thousand books in his trademark wax cloth.

I hope my passion and interest for the role is clearly conveyed. I have a large amount of retail experience, of which has given me the confidence to communicate with customers and members of the public, both directly and via telephone. Please view my CV for more information, do not hesitate to call me on my mobile for more information.

Thank you for your consideration,

Shannon Lane
