ABOUT
Castledown started out as a bespoke set of typefaces for a primary school in Hastings, UK. From its initial concept as a tool to unify and formalise typography throughout the school, it quickly developed into a broader demographic by expanding the type family. Totalling eight cuts, from the rationalised regular cut, to the ‘fun’ italic cut, going through to the cursive handwriting variants which enables students to learn joined-up handwriting. Castledown is now available as a commercial release for both designers and educational institutions wishing to develop their handwriting syllabus.
