About me
With more than 20 years experience editing for UK national newspapers, international magazines, agencies and websites, I am an ideal candidate to fill the role of sub-editor you are advertising.
In addition to being a highly-talented and proficient sub-editor, I am also a writer, reporter and feature writer, and have been an editor, chief sub and a production editor.
For 12 years I was a full-time freelance on the Daily Mail's City & Finance desk, often running the edition pages from design to output. I worked at the London Evening Standard's Business section for five years and have experience on several financial magazines, including some of the FT's, and helped launch Financial News.
I was full time for the features department of the Standard for three years and subbed on a host of magazines, from Accountancy Age to Top Gear, including some B2B publications.
On sport, I was with The Mail on Sunday for 11 years, the Guardian for three years and the Sunday Express for two. I have worked online at TMOS and for financial magazines.
I also worked, for six years as, a media analyst, compiling a 2,000-word article on media news in the national dailies for most of the sector's major players, including the BBC, ITV, ITN, BSkyB, Channel 5 and Ofcom, by 8.30am.
I take pride in my ability to work with speed, flair and accuracy and hope you will feel I am worth being considered for your shortlist. I attach my CV.
Yours sincerely
Roy Shipston
