About me
Dear Sir/Madam,
Please find attached my CV for the post of freelance sub-editor as advertised at indeed.
I am an experienced, NCTJ-trained sub-editor - with a BA Hons degree in economics - and have worked in consumer publications (both print and online) for more than 15 years, including five years at Time Out magazine and 10 at IPC Media.
I am a meticulous sub-editor - adept at using various DTP packages (InDesign, QuarkXpress, etc) - with a keen eye for detail and believe that I possess the necessary skills for the post: sub-editing/proof-reading, writing, re-writing, fact-checking, sells/headlines, etc.
As a sub-editor, I am used to working to tight deadlines while also liaising with writers, designers, production editors, picture desks, lawyers, printers, etc.
While at Time Out, I also regularly produced copy for the magazine in the form of TV/book reviews.
In addition to my subbing experience, I have also become well-versed in the area of web design due to a course I undertook a couple of years ago at my own expense.
At present I am working as a freelance sub-editor at Dennis Publishing Ltd on a couple of the technology magazines (Computeractive and Web User).
Thank you for taking the time to consider my application and I look forward to hearing from you in the near future.
Regards
Geoff St Louis
