About me

I am an English sculptor presently living in Morocco, with a background in handmade art, wood carving and architectural joinery. My outlook has been influenced by the wilderness of my East Anglian roots in England. This broad vista of grassy marshland, sea breezes, open skies and coastal wildlife, instilled in me a profound wonder of the natural world.

The unique characteristics of natural materials can transform a vague notion into a brace of interlocking ideas, as a piece becomes a fully fledged sculpture. I am currently using this approach in the construction of creature Masks made from palm 'Jrids', the pear shaped base of palm leaves. These Masks are my immediate response to contemporary issues, with themes drawn from european folklore, antiquity and popular imagery. They also reflect my penchant for English Gothic Art, and the medieval grotesques that pepper european monasteries and cathedrals.
