ABOUT
Unconscious is a personal project from 2018, inspired by hazy summer walks in Nottingham Forest, escaping the London heat. The idea emerged when I hid inside a hollow, dead oak tree and took a photo of myself inside—a surreal moment that became the foundation for one of the animations.
The project delves into Jungian archetypes, exploring a character trapped within her own unconscious—a timeless, spaceless world of black papercut-like shadows. The minimalist and raw aesthetic reflects the concept of archetypes rather than refined visuals, using a primitive colour palette of red, black, and white. These colours, tied to ancient caves and primal beliefs, represent blood, darkness, and light—the pure, untamed essence of human experience.
Unconscious blends themes of stars, tarot, and primordial beliefs, creating a surreal narrative about navigating the depths of the mind and the mysteries of existence. It’s a deeply personal exploration of the archetypes that shape us, presented in a strikingly minimal and symbolic style.
