ABOUT

What was asked of us
With O2’s 5G network set to transform the way people live their lives, Samsung wanted to showcase their 5G-enabled devices in O2 stores. We were tasked with developing an in-store experiential campaign that showcased three of their devices, primed for the new world of possibilities.

What we did
We knew that 5G was going to change the future, with blazing speeds, lower lag times and a more reliable connection, but we wanted to make sure that consumers did too. And to do that we had to make it tangible for them, putting the power of 5G in their hands.

5G has the power to destroy the dreaded buffering wheel. So, we gave O2 customers the chance to say goodbye to buffering and hello to 5G with a hands-on game that saw them attempt to ‘beat the buffer’ as it spun around and around on a digital totem. They could battle to beat the high score and be entered into a prize draw to win a pair of wireless Samsung headphones.

But 5G won’t just beat the buffer, it will unlock a whole world of possibilities. So, we brought that metaphor to life in O2 shops. We set up bespoke units with a prize on show, locked inside and challenged consumers to literally unlock the possibilities. If they picked the right code from a collection of scratch cards, the door would pop open and they’d win a pair of wireless Samsung headphones.

Alongside the activities in-store, a series of interactive pre-awareness leaflets and social media posts supported the experiential, drove footfall and generated excitement in the local areas.
