Friday 27 March saw Cogentfilm attending the Evcom Screen Awards, Europe’s largest and most prestigious celebration of corporate and public sector communication. The team won Silver for The Laurus Award, an award given for the most outstanding film achieved with a budget of under £15,000, for their film ‘The Tamsin Addison Story.’

Our Film Dept created the online film for Tamsin, a Paralympic rider hoping to compete at the Rio Olympics in 2016, after meeting her late last year. The film, scripted in house and directed by Simon Cox and Casey Hennessy, features Tamsin talking about her journey so far, and emphasises her determination to go to Rio and lift the gold medal.

Having suffered cancer at the age of twenty-one, Tamsin is the first person in the world to ever regrow a bone in her upper arm. She’s now part of the British Equestrian Talent Squad preparing for next year’s event, however, she still requires that all important sponsorship to enable her to attend.

“We met Tamsin when we filmed at her stables,“ Mark Lindley, our Creative Director said. “And having heard her story, we were all keen to do something to raise awareness – and funds – to help this amazing woman achieve her goals.”

“Cogent have done a great job in taking my story and bringing it to life in the most compelling and simple way,“ Tamsin said. ”I’m so grateful for their time, commitment and effort. I hope to do them – and everyone else in the country – proud.”

Speaking after the Evcom awards, Simon Cox, Head of Cogentfilm said “We’re very proud to have won this award for Tamsin’s film, she overcame the odds and is now a top class equestrian. We are honoured to have been able to tell her story.”
