Happn social impact - One in Three
Happn, the leading dating app that enables users to discover the people they’ve crossed paths with in real life, has teamed with international human rights organization Equality Now to communicate that violence against women is not only a global crime against half of the world’s population, but is also happening, overlooked, right in front of us all.

In recognition of International Women's Day, Happn and Equality Now launched a powerful new public service campaign called ‘One in Three’. Rolling out in twenty one cities around the world, including Paris, Hong Kong, London, Madrid, New York, and Sao Paulo, One in Three is grounded in the frightening statistic that one in three women worldwide have been victims of physical or sexual abuse. The full list of One in Three cities is below.

Happn offers a second chance at “missed connections” by helping users find the intriguing stranger they encountered in passing. Using real-time geolocation technology, the app shows users a timeline of people they’ve crossed paths with throughout the day.

During the International women's week, Happn users saw images of models portraying women survivors of violence displayed in their timelines. The profiles will identify these women by the name: I’m One in Three. The first image shows a woman who appears to be bruised, followed by a progression of three additional images that signify the woman is healing. This conveys the powerful message that paying attention to violence against women and noticing its survivors is an important first step in ending this scourge. Happn encourages its users to support Equality Now in its mission by raising awareness for this issue, allowing them to make a donation and join in on the conversation.

The twenty one cities in which Happn conducted the One in Three campaign are: Paris, London, Madrid, Barcelona, Milan, Rome, New York City, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Chicago, Miami, Buenos Aires, Mexico City, Sao Paolo, Rio de Janeiro, Brasilia, Oslo, Copenhagen, Amsterdam, Bogota and Hong Kong. The campaign was shown to more than 35 million of users.
