ABOUT
Creative studio YeahNice has teamed up with Female Founders Rise – a community of nearly 8,000 female and non-binary founders – to launch the You’ve Got What It Takes campaign aimed at inspiring women to take the first step in starting and scaling their businesses, in direct response to Rachel Reeves announcing her support of a Government backed Invest in Women Taskforce.
The campaign comes when new Government research shows that only 15% of UK businesses are owned or led by women, a figure that has declined since before the pandemic.**
YeahNice, in collaboration with Female Founders Rise and digital OOH platform Glooh, have launched what they hope to be the first of a series of digital and Out Of Home campaign which showcases 15 female founders, who’ve started, scaled or sold businesses in the UK. JCDecaux UK donated additional media space.
Creative assets were done pro bono by YeahNice and all media space was donated to the campaign by Glooh and JCDecaux UK.
Creative strategy – highlighting real stories from female founders
Clare Benson-Geddes, MD of YeahNice says, “You can’t be what you can’t see. Thats why our strategy centred around putting real female founders on billboards across two of the UK’s biggest cities to inspire other female founders and encourage allies to support female-led businesses.”
Tyler Berry, Creative Director on the campaign says, “To bring this vision to life, we developed a targeted out of home (OOH) and digital campaign featuring dynamic visuals, animated statistics, and powerful interviews with female founders sharing their journeys.”
The visual identity was built around the idea of strength and resilience, with all animations featuring a ‘rising’ motif, and paired with a message of empowerment: "You’ve Got What It Takes."
The campaign also highlighted key facts, including the £250 billion potential value to the UK economy if female founders started and scaled businesses at the same rate as their male counterparts.
But beyond the statistics, it was the stories – of resilience, optimism, and overcoming challenges – that made the biggest impact.
YeahNice also created a bank of downloadable assets for people to add to their social media profiles, to show their support, or mark themselves as a founder. It meant they could bring female founders from all industries together and create a real show of unity to the world.
Results so far
Launched online on social channels and on DOOH, the campaign ads ran across 90 screens around London and Birmingham, including the ‘Shoreditch Showcase’. The campaign’s reach exceeded two million people.
The reaction has been huge. Female Founders Rise saw an 83% increase in the number of women signing up to the community. Women across LinkedIn used the downloadable assets to show their support, and helped the campaign spread organically across social media.
The campaign was covered in national press too. London Live ran a six-minute segment with Emmie Faust, founder of Female Founders Rise, and The Times wrote about the campaign and its message.
It doesn’t end here
The campaign encourages women to join the community and, as the number of female founders increases, the group is calling on the government and the private sector to fund more of these campaigns nationwide. Faust says, “We want to expand this campaign nationwide – with both private AND Government backing – so that the next generation of women entrepreneurs can be inspired to kick-start their business.”
