ABOUT

Eavis is the BBCs Events portal: a bespoke CMS that was built to handle the creation
and management of sites for all events the BBC has coverage of such as Glastonbury,
Radio 1’s Big Weekend and Live Lounge.
The task was to extend the usability of front end functionality by redesigning content
across all sites, existing and future to work across a huge range of devices. This was in
accordance with the BBC’s plans to expand it’s digital coverage of Glastonabury 2013
so that users could follow the festival wherever they were.
The challenges we faced were based around the consideration we had to give to such
a sheer amount of content and functionality (both existing and proposed) which
would suddenly need to operate on different devices with different interactions.
I was brought in initially to design a live multi-stream protoype which allowed users to
view and interact with up to 12 simultaneous live streams. I later moved onto
hi-definition responsive wireframing (in accordance with the BBC’s GEL guidelines) and
finally oversaw an intensive period of in-depth, multi device user testing
