Please find my application for the role of New product Development Manager, I have worked within retail for over 15 years within Buying, merchandising and retail management mainly within a luxury environment., I started my career at Selfridges as a buyers admin within fashion and from here i realised that my passion was not fashion but within homeware and gifts., My main buying roles start as an assistant buyer at Allders where I was responsible for my own areas (toys, gift, novelty and books) and was involved in the development of both own product and packaging as well as branded merchandise. Due to the success of my areas I was asked to develop an all year round gift store which I was in the process of when the company fell into administration., After Allders I took on a number of temporary roles and then took a position as a purchasing manager for a media company developing gifts that were predominantly given away with popular magazines and children's publications ranging from Toys through to stationery gifts and fashion accessories until again I was made redundant due to a wain in reader subscriptions., I then moved on to luxury department stores Liberty and Selfridges as an assistant buyer within the Home departments focusing mainly on Stationery, Gift, Bathshop, Beauty and Body & Soul where I was given a great deal of responsibility from the outset. During my time at Liberty & Selfridges I undertook a number of product development roles as well working alongside the marketing departments on events such as “China Now” in association with the V&A museum and also Selfridges centenary celebration planning., I also recently created and developed my own online transactional business www.doodleandco.com selling cool, fashionable and luxury notebooks and journals I have sourced new and used existing suppliers from my time at Liberty and Selfridges and have used my experience as a buyer to put together the ranges on the site. The website has recently caught the eye of Harpers Bazaar and which was featured in the December issue in an online shopping feature I recently sold this business., I am now working as a product development manager for a company called Moroccan Bazaar and role here is to work mainly on the retail side of the business growing and developing new ranges as well as developing Moroccan Bazaar into a lifestyle brand and to use this brand to attract larger organisations to promote and sell our goods - I will be working on both own brand product development as well as sourcing new product from factories within Morocco as well as from the Far East.
