ABOUT
A14
Brief
I won this Creative Competition Project was set by ‘A14’ a print company that specialise in Embossing, Hot foil Printing and now letterpress.
The task was to increase awareness of the possibilities for the use of Letterpress to the best possible impact. The structure of this was to design a three-part mailer posted out at planned intervals with a clear, coherent and message.
Inspiration
My angle for this project was to look at the origins of letterpress and look at equipment that was part of the letterpress process. The main focus was the letter trays that hold and store the letter blocks. As well as getting the message across about letterpress I wanted to show the history of what was letterpress before new technology and looking at the roots of how letterpress has developed.
Output
I took the idea of the letter trays and adapted a positive and negative look. I highlighted each compartment of the letter tray that categorised the letter, from this it spelt out the word below the image of the letter tray.
The back of the mailer was the message which informed the audience of what letter was about and where you can get the professional print done. But also Information on the letter tray that displayed on the front on the mailer with the name and year of that specific letter tray.
