Dear Sir/ Madam,

I would like to apply for the position of Junior Graphic Designer as advertised on *.

I have recently gained a First Class Honours Degree in Creative Product Design from the University of The West of England. Here I learnt not only about product design, but also about designing point of sale displays, packaging and marketing material whilst considering and working within brand guidelines. The course had a focus on understanding the target consumer's wants and needs when purchasing goods, as well as the importance of understanding what visual language would appeal to the given market group.

Alongside the course I undertook two summer placements as a Junior Designer at The Gro Company. I worked as part of a professional team on a variety of projects and design briefs ranging from product design to marketing material, including for print and web. Here, I designed a baby comforter that has sold in excess of 5,000 units so far, email and website banners, business cards and a custom promotional USB device to be distributed at trade shows. I also designed a promotional flyer and prepared and edited product shots, as well as being involved in adding to and updating the company website and literature.

The Gro Company then sponsored my final year university project, 'co-see' to design a baby's first bed, for which there is currently a patent pending. They have now purchased the idea and are looking to manufacture the product. I also won the award from The University Of The West Of England for the Best Creative Product Design Project as a result of the project. In addition to this, I received one of the top five marks in the country for my Product Design GCSE, all of which I feel show my strong work ethic and business acumen.

I enjoy working both as part of a team and as an individual. I am enthusiastic, conscientious and reliable with excellent time management and organisational skills and I am used to handling numerous projects with given deadlines. I am confident at using Microsoft Office software and the Adobe suite, particularly Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign. Consequently, I am familiar with both Windows and Mac operating systems. I also have strong numeracy and literacy skills, evident from my qualifications.
