About me
I am hardworking, punctual, quick to learn, I always take responsibility for my actions and if I make a mistake I will work tirelessly to correct it. However, due to my diligence and forethought I rarely make mistakes. I am good with numbers, I am great with people, but I am brilliant with words.
Although I am more than happy to do the duller jobs, I am completely wasted anywhere but in the thick of the action. Honesty is very important to me and I will give my opinion, but I know how to tailor what people think they want into what they should actually have, seamlessly. Although it is necessary in this 'intro' to talk in personal pronouns, I am far more comfortable not talking about myself, preferring to work and think in a team dynamic.
I am a recent graduate of Royal Holloway's distinguished English and Creative Writing BA, passing with a 2:1 honours. During the final year of my degree, while I was writing the last piece of creative writing coursework, I spent a week in a multi-award winning b2b advertising agency, and fell in love with the work. The skills I have perfected during my course are ideal for the advertising world: I have an unremitting creative intellect, always turning and twisting ideas around in my head; I am capable of working both by myself and in a team; I have become an astute and effective editor, aware that there is a fine line between what a writer is trying to achieve and what they are actually achieving, and capable of guiding them over that line.
One of my great loves is film and television and, after receiving a 1st in a screenwriting course during my degree, I realised that screenwriting is something I would love to do. Currently screenwriting is more of a hobby than a potential career, but if anyone wants to take a chance on me, whether working freelance or contract, I would be ecstatic.
Working to deadlines comes naturally to me. Perhaps my greatest accomplishments were writing two pieces of coursework, one 5000 words and one 10,000, each in the space of three days, and achieving a 1st for the first and a 2:1 for the second. Do not mistake this speed as needless rushing or overconfidence: the first piece was written well before the deadline, hence I was rewarded for my confidence. Admittedly, the second piece was written in the weekend before a deadline, but was a calculated risk which paid off nevertheless.
Ideally, I would love to work in London, but any of the other major cities would be exciting as well. I want to be in the hustle and bustle of it all, as I work best in high-stress, high-reward environments.
