About me
I am a thoroughly organised and driven publishing postgraduate, with excellent written and verbal communication. I am computer literate, capable with Microsoft Office, Adobe InDesign and Photoshop, and have an intuitive flair when mastering new software.
I have acquired an invaluable set of transferrable skills through my work in publishing, which would be highly advantageous for the role of Production Assistant. As an intern at University of Plymouth Press, I was involved in creating and monitoring production schedules, meticulously editing and proofing content, and identifying then overcoming problems with a diplomatic and professional manner. I also refined my ability for prioritization, working as part of a team, liaising with other departments and communicating effectively.
My Masters course provided training with Adobe InDesign and Photoshop, and I achieved a Certificate of Attendance in Editing and Proofreading. I am able to provide examples of a diverse range of content that I have edited or project managed. Having worked with a broad variety of publications, I find it easy to adapt to new challenges; I am currently involved in producing a children's title with Helen Greathead, a successful author and editor who commissioned the Horrible Histories series.
Outside of my postgraduate studies, my preoccupation with the digital future of the industry was given full rein when I became involved in The Future of Publishing report, in collaboration with Cyprus Well. I helped to contribute to the second part of this report on a freelance basis, and it has become a subject that I approach with vision and passion.
I have a practical and hands-on, yet realistic and meticulous approach to work, and thrive in environments where I can learn and develop. By combining education and practical experience with my ambition and determination, I am confident that I will prove an asset to your company.
I am available for an immediate start and look forward to hearing from you.
