About me

My name is Ana Franca and I am a freelance Portuguese reporter based in London. I have graduated from the University of Coimbra in 2010 and my recent experience includes copywriting at Martina Mercer award-winning copywriting services, where I have been asked to write on a wide range of subject ranging from the tools, concepts, designs and business models behind the advent of Web 2.0 to cooking and travelling.

In my spare time, I report on inspirational entrepreneurs, start-ups and socially aware SMEs back to Portugal. I have recently been put in charge of structuring the entire English version of the Portuguese design independent magazine Pangrama, from original content writing to finding the best webdesign solutions.

My experience to date encompasses a six months internship in the Macao-based Portuguese-language newspaper Tribuna de Macau where I had the chance to further my knowledge on financial markets while being the paper's correspondent in Hong Kong. During my experience in Asia, I was also fortunate enough to be trusted with the regional affairs pages, guaranteeing a few in loco reports for Tribuna from the Philippines, Thailand and Cambodia.

Skills

My main skills fall within the frame of all-things writing - article, copywriting, short-story and the likes. I also have strong IT skills (e.g. social media proficiency, accommodative Photoshop/Indesign skills). Apart from that, I have published work as a photographer but mostly, in all fields but in photography particularly, I am eager to learn.

Awards

After graduating in Journalism and Media from the University of Coimbra, I have completed (Merit) an intensive course at the London School of Journalism. Back home in Portugal, I studied Photography and editorial design at CENJOR (Portuguese Centre for Journalistic Studies).
