About me
With nearly 10 years' experience in sub-editing and designing at The Sentinel newspaper, its website and monthly magazines in Stoke-on-Trent, I believe that my skills and experience can be of great benefit to your team.
I am well-versed in editing and designing articles of varied subjects, rewriting unnecessary jargon, striving for accuracy, spotting potential legal problems and amending sloppy grammar and punctuation. I also have a flair for wordplay, wit and writing creative turns of phrase to make an article sparkle.
I have a good eye for detail, a knack for memorising style guides and accustomed to juggling multiple tasks while working quickly under pressure to meet tight deadlines (we used to produce six editions every morning which could be quite frantic).
I bring with me excellent IT skills and can quickly adapt to new programs, as proven by the fact I was super-user for the Tera Digital Publishing system at The Sentinel. This role utilised my organisation and problem-solving skills during system changes and upgrades. I'm also very familiar with InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator etc.
In addition I have a great reputation for being a dedicated and hard-working team player, but also more than capable of working under my own initiative, as I guarantee my references will testify.
