About me

Ever since the tender age of six when my mum sat me down to watch Back To The Future, I have always been fascinated with films and story itself. Now I am a self-confessed fiction addict, from the high brow of the theatre stalls, through the cinema screen and armchair of TV, to the geek underbelly of comics, computer games and web media. I like to keep up to date with the very latest trends and mediums in storytelling, and I am very passionate about developing and crafting stories that excite and stimulate people, that take them on journeys of depth and emotion. This determined spirit has directed me toward a career in scriptwriting and film and TV development.

Skills

I have worked as a freelance script reader for a number of years, as well as an editor. I write my own screenplays, but have also been drafted in to rewrite and polish feature films and shorts. , But my greatest skill is my creativity, not just with writing, but with the whole film process, from concept, pre-production, storyboarding to post-production, editing and designing posters and writing copy for marketing material.

Sector Experience

In 2006 I moved from Glasgow to London, taking a six-month internship placement at Blake Friedmann Literary Agency, during which time I also wrote for ScriptWriter Magazine, before taking a job at Durrants Media Monitoring. I worked there for five years, while collaborating and making short films, and freelancing as a script reader and editor for Marchmont Films, the WGGB, Celador Films, Cloud Eight Films and Phoenix Dean Productions, as well as various individual clients. I have also carried out work experience placements with Working Title Films and the International Screenwriters Festival.

Awards

I studied English Literature and Film & TV Studies at the University of Glasgow, graduating in 2003. I then spent three years doing a Masters degree in Screenwriting at Bournemouth University, graduating in 2007.
