ABOUT

The cloth mill at King's Stanley, with its brick-walled grandeur, marks it out as different from the usual stone of the Cotswolds and its large scale certainly sets it apart. Dating back to 1813, it was designed to house spinning mules, looms, and other textile-manufacturing equipment, all powered by five water wheels fed from a mill pond nearby. Sadly it sits idle nowadays, devoid of any machinery, and awaits redevelopment.
Still in the hands of its family owners I was able to gain access to take some photographs of this monument of a glorious age in British industry.
