About me

I am extremely interested in this role as copywriter as I feel it is an area with a lot of scope for growth and enjoyment; specifically a job that I would be enthused and happy to work at.

I have been working as an independent writer since leaving University. My degree was gained in Film but I have worked in, and written about, various fields- including sports, fashion, news and travel. I am currently the film editor at Zeitgeist Magazine and the DVD editor at Close-Up Film and I have worked my way up to these positions from being a contributor. For a short time I also created and edited advertisements for The South East Advertiser which was extremely fast paced due to the daily nature of the newspaper, and the fact that I was working remotely. It also meant I had to perfect my phone manner in order to obtain information that was both accurate and relevant, as fact checking had to be done on the same day as the advertisement was received.

Being a self-starter, with film not being intrinsically linked to magazine work, journalism has forced me to use my creativity in various spheres, and this has meant I have had to seek out work independently based on my own research

At the start of 2010 I spent four months working as an intern for the company, Applecore designs, which provides design software, and I worked as their publishing & marketing consultant. My main work within the company was to produce .pdf's, company booklets and web journals to update the online image of the company. I believe the additional experience gained from the company, along with my magazine work, would transfer well to this position. My secondary duties were based on meeting and talking to clients, phone and clerical work, filing, creating press releases, case studies, website editing and submitting writing to design journals.

I feel that I would be able to perform the tasks required by this role and would look forward to working within a fast-moving, professional environment.
