About me

I've been working for several years in the graphic design industry, both on an independent and corporate level, in print and web design. Design is my passion, whether posters or textiles, pamphlets or advertisements, I find joy in the communication in an art form, a passion evoking marketing tool. It is with extreme delight that I found this excellent opportunity to combine my interests with my career ambitions, and it is with great excitement that I submit my CV for the open Designer position.

My current role as Web Manager at Miss World LTD has exposed me to an amazing variety of responsibilities. While my main daily activity is content management and editorial for the several Miss World web pages, I've focused on expanding the Miss World online presence by developing and implementing social media campaigns and direct mailings. These included custom strategies which successfully tripled Facebook audiences and added over a million views to the Official Youtube Channel in less than a month. Taking my role a step further, I concentrated on collaborating within theorganisation, teaming up with PR, photographers and producers to create exclusive web content to ensure brand loyalty and continued visitation to the Miss World websites. By collaborating with individuals such as the Program Director, I gained extensive experience on taking others visions and making them a reality. Currently I am working closely with developers to implement a blogging aspect to the Miss World website, which will allow over 100 contestants to blog and upload video diaries on location, increasing traffic and interest in the 2012 event. Being the sole web employee within Miss World, I've had to adapt and define extreme project management skills in order to meet the deadlines of all my responsibilities while still growing online presence. I have deadlines given to me by my superiors, rapidly increasing audience demands, as well as working to publish before global news. It was an amazing learning experience in prioritizing my work efforts, learning when to delegate and learning when to collaborate with different departments to get the best result in a timely manner. While my current role with Miss World LTD is mainly digital based, I've found avenues for adding my creative talent and print passion, in the taking over of the collectible program booklet.

Working with Thrivent Financial as a project coordinator and design liaison really taught me a lot about the importance of branding and design in the corporate world. Excelling in my role, my responsibilities quickly evolved to include a heavy design liaison responsibility as I worked with department to ensure new designs met brand standards and the communication needs for new products. After high success, I was granted the ability to design corporate identities, collateral and presentations which are still being used across the USA and in Canada today. Within my freelance company, Here + There Design, I've learned the true importance of asking the right questions to get the right solution for my clients. With this, I've expanded projects from just ad campaigns to successful store rebranding, helping a small Minneapolis company gain an amazing visual presence in store design, print materials and advertisements.

My studies at university were in parallel subjects, printmaking and graphic design, where I combined my love for design with the communication method of print. In my free time, I dedicate myself to the art of print graphic design, researching new techniques and avenues to excel in the industry. I would love to be able to have a role that allows me to carry out my passion professionally, and am confident I have the ambition, determination and skill set to succeed in this role.
