I wrote this book for kids with allergies, to teach them about their treatment and help them feel reassured and understood. It was a wonderful brief because it allowed me to use my craft for a very worthy purpose.
My allergy immunotherapy client wanted to proactively solve a core problem with their child patients: adherence. If children and parents can’t work together to take their allergy immunotherapy consistently, it simply won’t have the best outcomes. Patients and caregivers needed reassurance and support to know the medicine is working. I wrote this children’s book with explainers, activities, stories, and a colour-in calendar to help parents and children take control of consistent daily meds. I worked with a really talented illustrator to turn my doodles of a cast of allergen monster characters into original creatures that appeared throughout the book to demonstrate the science and reassure kids that they don’t need to fear their allergy… and can even make friends with it! I absolutely adore storytelling and this is my favourite example it in my portfolio.
