In 2010, I was approached by a private client to create a series of maps showing Europe at hundred-year intervals through the ages. The maps were to be used as an educational and artistic wall display.

I created an initial set of seventeen maps using Serif DrawPlus. Each map was drawn from original research, rather than compiled using existing images.

Having completed the original commission in 2013, I extended the series back by a further six centuries. The European series was then followed up with a similar series depicting North America.

These two maps show Europe in 1610 and North America in 1810. My brief was to start in the present, so I began with the year 2010 and worked back from there.
