In 2009, world-renowned physicist Stephen Hawking devised a beautifully simple experiment to determine whether time travel to the past was possible. He held a reception for time travellers, but didn’t publicise it until after it had happened. In this way, only those who could travel back in time would be able to attend.

In 2013, with Professor Hawking’s approval, Peter Dean created this beautiful invitation to support the experiment. Two limited editions were letterpress printed by hand and sold out quickly. Two further screen-printed open editions remain on sale. The print gifted to Prof. Hawking at the time of the print's launch later sold at Christies for more than £11,000.

In Stephen Hawking's words: “I’m hoping copies of it in one form or another will survive for many thousands of years. Maybe one day someone living in the future will find the information and use a wormhole time machine to come back to my party, proving that time travel will, one day, be possible.”
