Belgian cyclist Tom Boonen, photographed for the cover of Pro Cycling in Mol. Every year Tom returns to his home town for a small cycling festival, riding, chatting and drinking with local riders he grew up with.
This was my first foreign assignment for Pro Cycling. I found this stressful enough (no pressure, we just need a powerful portrait for the cover. You'll have about five minutes) but added to that was being held up at Eurostar as my lighting kit was flagged up as an explosive device. The kit was hired so my answer to each question asked by the Policeman With A Machine Gun was "I'm sorry I don't know". I wasn't arrested and we just made the train.
