ABOUT

This, for me, is relatively new work in the context of my sporadic posting. Gordon Giltrap photographed in the peak of last summer for Guitarist Magazine at their studios in Bath.

Giltrap could rightfully be described as a guitarists' guitarist, drawing praise from peers including Jimmy Page and Deep Purple's Ritchie Blackmore in a career spanning seven decades.

The senior art editor on Guitarist has those qualities that make shoots like this efficient and productive. I know how the layout will look (space needed in certain places for a header for example) and he already knows how that issue is looking in terms of tone. It's all very well having a lovely set of portraits but if they're book ended in the magazine with contrasting styles / themes it can be quite jarring for the reader.
