About me

Hello my name is Phoebe Talbot, I'm a 25-year-old kiwi currently situated in London whose seeking a job to get my foot in the door in the advertising industry.

I feel that as I have only recently entered the workforce, I'm a sponge for learning various skills to span across an exciting (and somewhat unpredictable) creative career. I am passionate about the moving image, and the role that writing and storytelling plays in this, as I have a background in studying film theory. I also have experience working in one of the most fast-paced, prestigious advertising agencies in North America, and feel that the skills I learned during my time there would be invaluable for this role. I'm really keen to be part of a fast-paced, friendly team and am open minded and willing to constantly learn and be shaped by the minds around me.

I am a copywriter by trade, and whilst working at Johannes Leonardo in New York City, this role also translated across various departments and responsibilities. I wrote treatments on behalf of directors and animators to present to clients, created decks of work for pitches for new business, but predominantly my role was to come up with creative solutions to brands' business problems. I wrote scripts, creative insights, headlines, poetry, and proposals to engage directors and photographers to work on our projects among various other tasks.

My favourite project to date, was when I worked with my creative partner to come up with a creative solution to adidas Originals most recent SLEEK campaign, as they were struggling to appeal to young women to buy their product without coming across as patronising or ill-informed. We ended up pushing the idea of a multi-faceted femininity, and worked alongside Petra Collins and Issamaya French to create a beautiful, dynamic and authentic campaign that reflected the women we were appealing to.

I like to approach each new brief or project with a sense of enthusiasm and a can-do attitude. The nature of copywriting and creative problem solving is laden with obstacles, and as a creative person, I feel that is my role to aid in easing the team through this process by being, first and foremost an expert problem solver. This lies in having an optimistic attitude, refusing to give up, and being flexible to adapt to every budget, time constraint, and unexpected issue that arises.
