Elegant Multi-Functional Meeting / Ping-Pong Table Conversion

Published by

Who has never dreamt of having a ping-pong table at work? I am sure many of you have wished of being able to take a moment of relaxation after a challenging webinar with head office or takin' five with colleagues after a brainstorming session. Either playfully tapping the ball back and forward or smashing it down (!) Olympic volleyball style to take out some frustration. Unfortunately for most of us, the opportunity does not show up because a ping-pong table requires a lot of space.

Tell that to designer Sean Woolsey who devised a conference table with multiple functions; both for work purposes and as a source of entertainment. Far from the usual gaudy colours and plastic legs, the table is built from solid black walnut, and the legs are sleeved into the steel base, allowing for adjustment via leg levellers.

Multifunctional objects for tight spaces:

Today more and more objects within our homes and offices are serving a multi-purpose function (including the subject matter on which I am writing this article). But until now the table was a rather mono-functional article. Indeed, most of the tables in our interiors are objects in front of which one always remains in a sitting position to occupy an activity like eating or working according to the types of tables. Now to meet our increasingly mobile lifestyles, many objects are transformable to accommodate several functions depending on the time of day, such as the sofa bed for example.

By imagining objects with multiple functionalities, they can maximise their use and thus optimise space.

So why not a table with various functions?

Sean Woolsey has designed this table to accommodate ping-pong parties in your office or your living room. So even if the space you have is restricted, you will be able to have some entertainment. Which is a great addition if your company is having a business startup event and you lack in ideas/space to "break the ice" with potential investors. Furthermore, the dimensions correspond to the technical specifications of the ITTF, having been scrupulously respected, so that the users can have a real gaming experience.

The chicest of table tennis tables:

So yes, you can very well decide to eat on a green or blue table in your stay. But the peculiarity of this game table is also its materiality. The table was designed and handmade in the Costa Mesa Atelier in California. It was made of black walnut and includes a maple median line. This fine line is as discreet as it is elegant, making it possible to host matches in doubles.

With a view to opening the field of uses to the maximum, the table was even finished with an oil and a food wax to avoid food stains if it serves as a dining table.

The accessories:

The Woolsey table tennis table comes with four racquets made of walnut and maple, and five ping-pong balls; able to be stored in a purpose built wall display.

Thanks to a noble essence and quality finishes, this luxury table has its place in a living or conference room. This table is all the more elegant because most ping-pong tables are objects of low aesthetic value! Credit must be made to Sean Woolsey in regards to the smart design as I can imagine that no client or conference delegate if they were to walk into the meeting room for the first time, would imagine for a single second that this piece of furniture turns into a table tennis table ... unless you challenge them !
