Dear Sir/Madam,

I wish to apply for the position of Design and Print Manager at The Book (Job ref: 2719.ET).

I am a multi-skilled manager, designer and production specialist with 17 years experience working in the print and publishing industries.

For the last four years, I have been working as Head of Design and Production at Sport Media Group Plc in Manchester.

I have been responsible for co-ordinating and managing their design, production and print department and for the safe and economic delivery of their products in a seven-day publishing operation.

I spent the previous six years in a deputising role, at the same company.

I am a highly-motivated manager and resourceful team player who approaches projects with an analytical and creative mind.

I prioritise workloads easily and have proven man-management and budget-handling skills.

I am adept at driving the production, design and creative workflows through a business and have devised and implemented successful training and appraisal schemes for a staff of around 40, while also mentoring colleagues.

I have extensive knowledge of all the major software packages (including InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Quark XPress and Acrobat) and can work on either Apple Mac or PC systems.
