About me
Dear Sir/Madam
Hello, my name is Philip Gray and I would like to apply for the position of the Studio/Production Assistant role within your company, seen on the creativepool.co.uk. My previous job roles have been working as a producer for various Independent production companies and I have currently finished working on a project for a new production company based in Manchester.
I am 26 and I completed my degree at Manchester Metropolitan University, Manchester School of Art. I achieved a 2.1 in my BA Honours degree in Contemporary Film and Video Production. Prior to this I have studied at Stockport College where I completed a National Diploma in Moving Image, my final results were Distinction, Merit, Merit (B,B,C A-Level equivalent) and completed a city and guilds Photography course. Due to the nature of my University course, specifically as a producer, I managed and worked with a large team of people (fellow students, actors and outside agencies) I arranged filming dates, locations (e.g working with the National Trust), costumes and hiring actors, while maintaining positive working relationships throughout the projects all to a deadline under pressure. I have always been taught to experiment and challenge myself through film whilst valuing creativity. I enjoy researching and exploring ideas, risk taking and creating original moving/still images. These transfereable skills I believe I can adapt to fit your company.
I would enjoy working at your company as I feel I would gain more experience working alongside professionals and a better insight into print and advertising. I have attached my Flickr page to my C.V. on here you will be able to navigate though my sets to see some examples of my photography and post edit work, using photoshop. I have also attached my Vimeo page to Creativepool, for video work. My showreel is too large to upload, but if you require it, I will be able to send it across to you in a large email attachment.
My work experience includes - working as the producer in a newly formed Manchester based Production Company, Dead Sunrise Productions. Duties included sourcing crew, location scouting, hiring locations, overseeing script. Previously I have worked for Summertime Pictures, also as the producer and cinematographer, Sumner's (post production company) where I was allowed to work with and observe the various post production departments, Mojo Studios a photography studio in Manchester and I have also worked on a promo video for the band Twisted Wheel before they signed to Columbia Records.
I am a reliable, motivated individual. Punctual, keen and willing to learn with strong organisational and administration skills. My personal interests are making films and taking pictures. I am very keen on photography, I own a Canon 400d, Pentax ME Super, Holga CFN and now experimenting with Pinhole photography. Irvine Welsh is a favourite author of mine.
I look forward to hearing from you.
Yours sincerely
Philip Gray
