ABOUT

In early 2025, I again created various book covers for mostly imaginary authors and novels, as a practice in graphic design for book art. Only real title is "Shadows of Forgotten Ancestors", but I took it from one of my favorite movies by Sergei Parajanov, not from the novel, because I saw that movie in high school and it left a mark on me. In this case, I imagined a fantasy story with fairies behind that name (they are a form of ghosts from the past). For "Knives and Lilies," I used my acrylic painting on canvas from the early 2010s, a portrait of an imagined woman, one of many alter-egos. I made a collage from it.
I also used my acrylic painting on "Annihilation", my collage art on "Amazing Alice" and "Sugar Dystopia", my digital paintings on "Shadows of Forgotten Ancestors" and "Medusa Voyage", and my glitch art (with Romy Schneider) on "Sirens of (the) Film Noir". Romy is not the first that comes to mind, nor heavily related to that film genre, like Ava Gardner, Veronica Lake, Lauren Bacall or Hedy Lamarr, but I love to use her as a motif, because of her big, expressive and melancholic eyes.
I played with a combination of pastel and neon, bold and muted, ornate and smooth, ancient and futuristic, campy and more classic, fantasy and colorful punk.
