About me

I have submitted my cv for consideration in relation to the advertised Social Media Manager position.

My resume reveals a considerable editorial and media background having spent over ten years working in online and offline media and publications. This has encompassed projects in creative, technical and corporate environments, in several countries, and for various clients.

My experience in the editorial and social media field has included writing, editing, sub-editing, content creation, commissioning freelancers, managing and recruiting editorial teams, internal and client-based communication, extensive web and digital media production, development of corporate social network tools, photo research and development. In overseeing the entire editorial process, I've also been able to hone my project management skills.

During the past few years, I've worked on some blue ribbon sport events as a manager in both editorial and communication departments. In defining, writing and publishing the various procedures and communicating pertinent information to our clients, I liaised and worked closely with external bodies, ensuring that an efficient and harmonious communication relationship was maintained. Additionally, our department was responsible for the company design and look, social network site implementation, external presentations, creative editorial projects, newsletters, corporate website, proof reading and editorial assistance.

Responsible for the company's online and offline publications and communication, I ensured a coherent, concise message was delivered and clients were provided with timely, detail-oriented and accessible information. As many clients were not English mother tongue speakers, delivering this clear message was essential.

In gathering, editing and consolidating information from both internal departments and external bodies, I advanced problem-solving skills where information was not consistent and ensured that the relevant departments were kept abreast of pertinent changes to information. Often working to very tight deadlines and to last minute decisions, I am used to working under pressure.

Having began my career as a journalist and magazine features writer, I enjoy producing, editing and commissioning good copy and creative writing and the challenge of covering various subjects. Working more closely with digital media really appeals to me, given the opportunities, global pull and immediacy provided by the internet and social network tools.

I've enjoyed working with people from various backgrounds, nationalities and experience as well as worked in countries in three continents, gaining an appreciation for different working methods and approaches. Managing teams during events has given me significant experience in organising staff and workflows and a background in delivering information and instructions to both staff and clients has fine-tuned my communication skills.

After eight years working abroad, I am currently looking to permanently relocate back to the UK. However, I would still be open to any possibilities of travel this involved. I am ready and motivated by a new challenge, to work more with digital media and utilise the skills gained over the past few years in a new, exciting environment whether it be in a creative, editorial features-based field or working within an existing corporate structure.

I am currently on a sabbatical from my current position, based in the UK and available for interview.
