About me

I am a wordsmith. My greatest delight in life is to take an idea, mine or someone elses, and put it into the words that are demanded by the circumstances, be they the necessity for a simple letter, a complex proposal or an emotionally evocative speech. Finding just the right phrase or metaphor to convey an idea, an impression or an emotion is akin to an artist using line and colour to create a work of art. I am an artist yet i do not create art for its own sake, but as a means to an end.

When I was a young child, my parents were told - regarding me - that "She is intoxicated by her own verbosity", and it seems this prophecy has proven true in the years since, but my love for language has been tempered by years of discipline at the hands of devoted teachers who drilled me over and over and over again to refine the craft, to create pieces not for their own sake as a kind of self-indulgence but for the true delight that lies in crafting words to suite a purpose.

The skills they taught me have led me through years of university, driving me to seek out those disciplines in which I needed to write for a specific brief and within a specific time frame. I have used my skills in an array of fields, from acting as a personal assistant to writing scripts for professional puppet theatre to crafting proposals for television. It matters little to me what I am writing as long as it is a challenge to my capacity to produce copy that meets the demands made of it.
